Congratulations on the newest addition to your family. This fluffy, bright-eyed, tail-wagging bundle of joy is bound to bring a new dimension of happiness and unconditional love into your life. But, as with every new journey, there are bound to be a few bumps and learning curves along the way. The ‘puppy blues’ is a real phenomenon, and it’s okay to feel a bit overwhelmed at times. In fact, if you’re reading this amidst a sea of chewed shoes, questionable indoor ‘accidents,’ and maybe even some sleepless nights – you’re not alone!

Raising a puppy is a bit like deciphering an adorable, yet perplexing, foreign language. It’s a whirlwind of wagging tails, playful barks, inquisitive sniffs, boundless energy, and yes, a little bit of mischief! And amidst all this excitement, it’s easy to forget that this tiny creature is experiencing everything for the first time. Every sight, every sound, every scent – it’s all brand new.

In this guide, we aim to support you through these initial stages, turning them into a rewarding and enjoyable experience for both you and your puppy. Here, you’ll find practical advice, expert tips, and effective strategies on various aspects of puppy raising – from settling in and housebreaking, to socialization and priming your pup for learning. Remember, our goal is to foster an environment of understanding, compassion, and patience, which are the cornerstones of any successful puppy training endeavor.

Puppy Classes

Our Puppy Foundations program is a group training program that aims to help your family set your puppy up for lifelong success. 

Sessions are held in Grandview on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:00pm, or can be scheduled at our main campus based on your availability.

With the help of a dedicated trainer, you and your puppy will learn to safely socialize and manage unwanted puppy behavior. During this four-week program, you’ll meet weekly with your trainer to discuss topics such as crate training, housebreaking, chewing, biting and other puppy behaviors. You’ll also learn how to start treat training with your dog to establish a healthy and happy bond from the start. 

Having the dog of your dreams often means early intervention and mindful work at the puppy stage. Canine Academy is excited to help you step towards the canine companion of your dreams through early education for this exciting time!  

This class is a perfect fit for any puppy between 10 weeks and 20 weeks old. Puppies are required to have at least one series of DHLPP vaccine. 

Our Puppy Foundations classes each introduce a topic for training and discussion. The classes can be attended in any order. Each class will give an opportunity for your puppy to socialize safely.

  • Treat Training as Bonding and Dynamic Setting 
  • 4 group training sessions with a dedicated trainer

Puppy Socialization Stay and Train

Our Puppy Socialization program is a 1:1 training program that aims to help your family set your puppy up for lifelong success. 

Sessions are held on Wednesdays in Grandview, and 7 days/week at our main campus in Lancaster, Ohio.

With the help of a dedicated trainer, your puppy will learn to safely socialize and manage unwanted puppy behavior. During this four- to seven-day program, your puppy will spend the day with our trainers and care team, learning house breaking, crate training, manners and confidence. At the end of the stay, you’ll have a training session geared toward the humans in the pack to learn how to make the most of your puppy’s experience.

Having the dog of your dreams often means early intervention and mindful work at the puppy stage. Canine Academy is excited to help you step towards the canine companion of your dreams through early education for this exciting time!  

This class is a perfect fit for any puppy that has been fully vaccinated against rabies, lepto, distemper, and bordatella and is between 14-22 weeks old. 

Each day of their stay, your pup will learn: 

  • Crate Training & Housebreaking 
  • Leash manners and structured rest.
  • What to do with energy for biting.
  • Confidence building and handling.
  • Socialization to people, dogs, sights, sounds, smells, and surfaces.

Accommodations at Barks and Rec or Canine Academy, daily training and enrichment sessions, and a go-home lesson.

Packages are available for either continuous boarding periods or non-continuous daycare stays. Recommended program length is 4-7 days.

Rate including overnight boarding: $170/night

Rate including daycare only: $150/day
